Rewards in Heaven

I have never really understood what "rewards" and "treasures" in heaven meant before I read this book. If our faith alone is what gets us to heaven, what difference do our actions make? And isn't just getting to heaven a reward or treasure in itself?

Alcorn describes it this way:

Belief determines our eternal destination ... where we will be.

Behavior determines our eternal rewards ... what we'll have.

According to Alcorn, forgiveness of sin means that God eliminates eternal condemnation and lets us into heaven. But, there are still consequences to our actions. We will be denied some rewards and treasures that we could have gotten if we had not sinned.

This post was inspired by the book In Light of Eternity by Randy Alcorn.
