Ortberg writes that "It took one night to get Israel out of Egypt, but it took forty years to get Egypt out of Israel."
Such is the same with me. God can deliver me from sin in an instant. Yet my mind and heart remain in the sin. I still feel as though I am a sinner. Stained, guilty.
It will take months, sometimes years, for me to re-write my internal dialogue to no longer be a sinner. Satan wins as I continue to be mired in the disgrace of sin, even if I am the only one disgracing myself.
