Adultery, Murder

By this point David had been king for twenty years. He was fifty. His kingdom covered 60,000 square miles. He was at an “all-time high.”

One evening, he noticed a woman named Bathsheba bathing. She was married to someone else. (This story I do know.) David pursued and had a sexually relationship with Bathsheba, who became pregnant. David then had her husband re-assigned to a place in battle where he was sure to be killed.

David’s arrogance and abuse of power led him to make some horrific decisions. This is a great warning to me.
