Transformed Thinking

Meberg writes that there are some scriptures (such as avoiding sexual sin) which are so clear that we do not have to pray about them, just obey them. This struck me because I know a lot of people who have prayed about certain issues and are torn by guilt because of their behavior. They pray to understand or modify their behavior. They pray for forgiveness.

Yet, they could simply obey the scriptures. A lot of scripture is confusing and requires prayer and Holy Spirit intervention to understand. But a lot of scripture is straightforward.

Psalm 103 reminds us that God is like a father to His children and he knows how weak we are. So when we fail and do not obey God's word, God does not stop loving us. This concept should comfort and calm us. We do not have to be perfect, God knows we are weak. We need to simply let him strengthen us. He does that by transforming our thinking.
