Enemies of the Heart

Stanley writes that there are four primary enemies of the heart:

Guilt

Anger

Greed

Jealousy

We pray for change but make excuses for the behavior. We say "My father had a temper too. I am an emotional girl. A lot of people are like this."

Like exercise and diet habits, we must not wait until we get healthy to develop those habits. We must force ourselves to eat right and exercise to become healthy. We cannot wait until we are already thin and fit to begin an exercise program. That would be ludicrous. Instead, those habits will lead to the goal - exercising and eating right will make one healthy.

Likewise, is we want to be generous instead of greedy, we must determine and exercise habits that will lead to the goal behavior we want.

This post was inspired by the book It Came From Within by Andy Stanley.
