After being a Christian for many years, I still struggle with prayer. So often, my prayers are nothing more than lists. Lists of praises and lists of prayer requests. Sometimes I include lists of things I have learned through reading the Bible. Calvin Miller writes "Those whose prayers are unending monologues make themselves a giant mouth while making God a small ear."
Unending monologue. Whoa. That is exactly what my prayers are. It is so hard to remember that prayer is a two-way street. I need to put my lists away and listen for God's lists to me.
