Centering Prayers

Why is prayer such a challenge for me?  Calvin Miller describes "centering prayers," defining them as "never those hurried sky-lobs that we toss upward amid our hassled to-and-fro-ings."

Oops!  The majority of my prayers are quick and in the middle of my busy life.  "Let me get there safely."  "Let my kids behave."  "Let me and my husband not fight."  "Let my clients pay me."

There is not much depth to most of my prayers.  When I squeeze my prayers in between my to-do list and busy life, how can I expect deep, meaningful prayers?

This post is inspired by the book Into the Depths of God by Calvin Miller.
